You will be missed behind the counter, but we’ll look forward to sharing a good coffee and a few lemon squares together!

And now, we welcome Revelstoke’s newest business owners and residents, Kushal Patel and .

We reached out to Kushal for a quick Q & A to learn more our new Modern Cafe and Bakeshop owner.

Q: Royal LePage Revelstoke: How did you discover Revelstoke?

A: Kushal: I have always been passionate about food and have wanted to open a restaurant to serve my unique recipes for years. When I was doing research about where to start a business, I heard about Revelstoke and visited this small bustling town in 2016 when the pipe mountain coaster first opened. I rode the coaster for the first time then, and probably a dozen more times since! I always wanted to live close to the mountains and felt the connection here in town immediately. When my business partner and I found out that the Modern Bakeshop was up for sale, we knew we had to jump at the opportunity!

Q: Royal LePage Revelstoke: What are you enjoying the most about your new business?

A: Kushal: I wanted to be an independent business owner where I could be as creative as possible with food and have endless opportunities to bring new food ideas to this town. It was like dream come true when the Modern sale went through; I was so thrilled to start working! The staff and the whole community have welcomed me with open arms and I am really thankful for such a great welcome. It was stressful in the beginning but all of the Modern employees have made this transition very smooth. I am proud to say that I have the best team which we call “The Mod Squad”.

Q: Royal LePage Revelstoke: What have you discovered about Revelstoke that you think is cool?

A: Kushal: Now that I have moved from Kelowna to Revelstoke, I am very much excited to sharpen my skiing skills and to start going on new adventures. Of course, I will be riding the Pipe Mountain Coaster more often, probably a couple times a month. I just love the outdoors and Revelstoke brings so many opportunities! I am very excited to start hiking again this summer and to continue to discover everything that Revelstoke has to offer.

Q: Royal LePage Revelstoke: What is on your bucket list for life in Revelstoke?

A: Kushal: Definitely more hiking and I would love to learn mountain biking. Traveling is also one of my passions so I would like to eventually start working towards my goal again to visit every country before I die.
